Seed viability, germination and seedling quality patterns of three forest species for restoration in Amazonian conditions

چکیده

The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality patterns Switenia macrophylla, Cedrelinga cateniformis and Ochroma pyramidale seeds seedlings in response restoration. seed viability test performed using 1 % tetrazolium (2,3,5-triphenyl chloride) during three staining times percentage vigor levels were considered according topological pattern. Germination speed, germination capacity, morphological indices plant determined aboveground belowground ratio, slenderness, degree lignification Dickson's quality. highest viable with maximum time (3 hours) verified. medium category higher species, as by a partial reddish pattern an expression their physiological quality, which reflected germination. allowed us identify species’ potential for growth development acclimatization area. correspondence analysis significant (p≤0.05), facilitated formation groups, C. found be high-enough indicator its cover restoration needs Amazonian conditions.

Temperature requirements for seed germination and seedling development determine timing of seedling emergence of three monocotyledonous temperate forest spring geophytes.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The optimal period for seedling emergence depends on factors such as habitat preference, life cycle and geographical distribution. This research was performed to clarify the role of temperature in regulating processes leading to seedling emergence of the European continental Scilla bifolia and the Atlantic Narcissus pseudonarcissus and Hyacinthoides non-scripta. METHODS Ex...

Seed and Germination Characteristics of 20 Amazonian Liana Species.

Lianas are an important component of tropical forests, and may reach their highest densities in disturbed areas. However, information on seed and germination characteristics is scarce. Twenty Amazon liana species were screened for their germination characteristics, including light dependence, tolerance of desiccation and of alternating temperatures; these characteristics are considered importan...

Seed germination and seedling development in response to submergence in tree species of the Central Amazonian floodplains

Successful germination and seedling establishment are crucial steps for maintenance and expansion of plant populations and recovery from perturbations. Every year the Amazon River and its tributaries overflow and flood the adjacent forest, exerting a strong selective pressure on traits related to seedling recruitment. We examined seed characteristics, stored reserves, germination, seedling deve...

Investigating Allelopathic Effects of Artemisia sieberi on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth Indices of Three Alfalfa Species

Allelopathy is one of the main factors limiting the plants growth. The present study investigated the effect of aqueous extract of leaves and fruit of Artemisia sieberi that is an important species for rangeland rehabilitation on seed germination and seedling growth of three alfalfa species (Medicago sativa cv. Nikshahri,‌ Medicago polymorpha and Medicago scutellata cv. Robinson) in laboratory ...
